Claude is becoming a lot less split-brained

What jumped out at me is not the new document or slide generation itself. It’s that Anthropic is finally trying to smooth over the weird product seams it created for itself. If you’ve used Claude long enough, you could already feel the friction: one place for chat, another for Artifacts, another for “bigger” work, another for design-ish output. That’s the sort of internal taxonomy that makes sense in a product deck and then vanishes the moment a real user has to decide where to click.

The “One Claude” idea sounds like a cleanup job, and honestly that’s the most interesting part here. Claude being able to spit out editable docs inside a conversation is useful, sure, but it’s also table stakes now. The real question is whether Anthropic can make the handoff from chat to artifact to presentation to spreadsheet feel invisible. If it can’t, then this is just more surfaces piled onto an already confusing app.

I’d be curious to try the slide flow first. Slides are where these assistants either look surprisingly competent or immediately expose their limits. A one-page doc is easy to fake; a presentation needs structure, hierarchy, and a sense of what not to include. If Claude can create something I’d actually be willing to hand to a coworker without heavy cleanup, that’s meaningful. If not, then “editable” is doing a lot of work here.

The rollout plan also tells you where Anthropic thinks the value is right now: Pro and Max first, with Team and Free later. That feels like a bet that this is a productivity upgrade for heavier users before it becomes a broad consumer feature. Fair enough. The more interesting bet is whether consolidating Cowork and Artifacts into one interface reduces confusion, or just hides it better.
