Claude keeps drifting toward "AI that does the deck for you"

What struck me isn’t that Anthropic is shipping more app-adjacent features. It’s how aggressively it’s trying to make Claude feel like the place where work artifacts get created, not just discussed. Dashboards, Motion, Docs, Slides, Design — that’s a pretty clear move away from “chat with a model” and toward “use Claude as the front end to produce deliverables.”

I’m a little skeptical of how far that goes in practice. A dashboard generated from natural language is useful if it gets you 80% of the way there, but the last 20% is usually where the real work lives: data modeling, metric definitions, edge cases, stakeholder arguments about what the chart should actually mean. Claude can help with that, sure, but “no SQL required” always sounds cleaner than it is. Someone still has to know whether the query is answering the right question.

Motion is the more interesting piece to me, mostly because Anthropic is framing it as code generation rather than video generation. That feels more honest. If the system is producing editable structures, timings, and text behavior instead of pretending to be a magical end-to-end video studio, that’s a better bet for controllability. I’d want to try it precisely because of that: not to make a polished promo video, but to see whether it can take a messy internal explainer and turn it into something I can actually tweak without fighting a black box.

The free availability of Docs, Slides, and Design is the quieter part of the story, and maybe the more telling one. Anthropic seems to be lowering the friction around everyday artifacts so users build a habit around Claude before they ever touch the more ambitious features. That’s smart. It also makes the enterprise controls around Dashboards and Motion make sense. If these tools are going to live near company data and company messaging, admins are going to want a hand on the switch.

What I’d watch for now is whether these features stay genuinely integrated or become a pile of half-connected modes. A lot of AI products look impressive when each feature is described separately, then feel awkward once you try to move from one artifact to another. The promise here is less about one flashy demo and more about Claude becoming a workbench. If Anthropic can keep the handoff smooth, this is a real product direction. If not, it’s just feature sprawl with better branding.
